Ready for Adventures!

Ready for Adventures!

The stepping stone has drowned in water,
but the strength in the soles of my feet,
are ever-growing
ever waiting.

The leap seems too far and broad.
What if I miss?
The distance between here and there,
it's within me - not beyond me.

I will jump
I will soar
and I will go
because the adventure awaits.

I am ready!

Allow Yourself

Allow yourself to be a fluid; bending, but not breakable. Allow yourself to twist, expand, and turn. Allow yourself to unwind, to loosen, to be. We're humans, not machines. Our wheels won't always spin, our engines require some repair from time to time, and breaks from routine keep us sane. Remember to rest, remember to energise yourself, and accept that you are so much more than a machine. You are a river; flowing and changing with each season.

Breathe, you're a fluid.

"The Paradoxical Commandments"

“The Paradoxical Commandments

People are illogical, unreasonable, and self-centered.
Love them anyway.

If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish ulterior motives.
Do good anyway.

If you are successful, you will win false friends and true enemies.
Succeed anyway.

The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow.
Do good anyway.

Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable.
Be honest and frank anyway.

The biggest men and women with the biggest ideas can be shot down by the smallest men and women with the smallest minds.
Think big anyway.

People favor underdogs but follow only top dogs.
Fight for a few underdogs anyway.

What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight.
Build anyway.

People really need help but may attack you if you do help them.
Help people anyway.

Give the world the best you have and you'll get kicked in the teeth.
Give the world the best you have anyway.”

I'm so happy

I'm so happy.
I'm so awake.
This is it.
I believe in the moment.

We can conquer the world.

One Step at a Time

At times, I forget how young I am, because of all that I have seen. Some moments, I forget how old I am, because of all that is still waiting for me.

We live in an age where everything is calculated. How much you should or should not eat, how many hours of sleep is enough, and how often your heart should beat per minute. We live in an age where our actions are calculated, planned, and followed: be born, go to school, find a job, get married, have a kid or two, and finally die at an old age. This almost sounds ideal. This almost is ideal. Education, stable home, a spouse, and a few kids to carry your name... What more could you ask for?

But how about when your home is torn apart and you're forced to flee your country? How about your old neighbour who isn't married and has no kids? How about the messy, horrible divorce your sister is going through? How about when you lose your job? Or worse, you give up your job to pursue your dreams? You're not in the ideal situation anymore. Your years of education mean nothing, your job gives you no credibility, and perhaps you never had kids or married. Perhaps, you never fit in the ideal situation.

Or the ideal situation never fit you.

We're not machines. We're human. We're bodies of fluids and emotions. We laugh, we act, we cry, and react to everything and anything. We overthink, we underestimate, and we jump to conclusions. We're ever-changing and all these calculations are just figures. When you've slipped on ice, the amount of carbohydrates on your plate do not seem of much importance. When you're lying on the floor in laughter with your best friends, the calculated hours and minutes of deep sleep you need to get to be well rested do not hold matter anymore.

You're alive, breathing, and reacting. You can be young, reckless, old, fearless, frightened, happy, crazy and anything in between. You don't need to fit the ideal. You don't need to become a machine. Just take one step at a time and remember what really is of importance: this moment.

It doesn't matter if you get one night of less sleep, or even two. It doesn't matter if you're over forty and still unmarried. It doesn't matter if your skin isn't pure. It doesn't matter if you slip or mess up. It doesn't matter if you're not proportioned for the ideal situation. It doesn't matter if you are.

Just come as you are.

It scares me how tiny we are in the universe

It scares me how tiny we are in the universe.
We are nothing compared to the Sun or the other galaxies beyond.
We're a speck of dust in all of this.
It scares me how tiny our actions really are.
But it makes me delirious, this thought.
Because if we're really so small,
then I can do it all.
Because compared to the universe,
when I decide to love you,
it really won't be more than a tiny speck of dust.
So while it scares me,
this insignificance,
it also also makes me feel truly wonderful.

Today, I Choose a Good Day.

Today, I choose to be happy.
Today, I choose to smile.

I choose to laugh, to dance, and to share.
I choose happiness, creativity, and love.

Today, I choose a good day.

Dare to Be

When a new day begins, dare to smile gratefully.

When there is darkness, dare to be the first to shine a light.

When there is injustice, dare to be the first to condemn it.

When something seems difficult, dare to do it anyway.

When life seems to beat you down, dare to fight back.

When there seems to be no hope, dare to find some.

When you’re feeling tired, dare to keep going.

When times are tough, dare to be tougher.

When love hurts you, dare to love again.

When someone is hurting, dare to help them heal.

When another is lost, dare to help them find the way.

When a friend falls, dare to be the first to extend a hand.

When you cross paths with another, dare to make them smile.

When you feel great, dare to help someone else feel great too.

When the day has ended, dare to feel as you’ve done your best.

Dare to be the best you can –

At all times, Dare to be!”

Strong Impulses and Introductions

Let’s start by introductions. Nice and simple.
Hi. My name is Vera. I am seventeen years old and am completely, utterly convinced I am going to save the world.
Nice and simple, like I said.
I am not joining this “blogging world” to share creative lifestyle tips or vlog about my day— if I wanted to do that, I would’ve joined blogspot in 2014 during the boom— but rather bring forth pieces of raw youth that society is trying so hard to break.

I am young.
I am ruthless.
And I feel invincible.
Feel invincible? Mind you, I am invincible.
I think you are invincible too.

To be truthful, writing this is an impulse, not a decisive or smart plan. Too many aspects of life are created through plans and schedules. This is not one of them. I won’t let this be one of them.

This isn’t hate either — no, sir, hate is for those who cannot love themselves — just thoughts gathered into one. This is hope! This is EXCLAMATION MARKS! Because life is exciting. Life is great! LIFE IS AMAZING!

Did someone tell you otherwise? Sue them.

I love the rain as much as I love sunshine. How about you? Which do you perfer? Sunlight tickling your skin or rain hitting your window pane? I’m writing while listening to the rain. It’s creating a nice melody as I type. Tip. Tip. Tap. Tap.

How am I planning to save the world?
Honestly, I don’t have a clue yet, but it’s not just me. It’s everyone, it’s us — it’s gotta be us. Who else is going to do it?
And what am I saving this world from? Greed, the unbalanced economy, anger, hate, violence… Yeah, it would be nice to eliminate all that. Give it up, give it up, give it up… But I love my iPhone!

Paradoxical commitment, truly. But really, what I’m aiming for is setting someone to life. I want to see someone’s eyes spark again. I want to see the youth uniting. I want to see us blooming, thriving, designing, and creating. I don’t want a single one of us give up our dreams for the sake of our elders, for the companies, or for the sense of just comfort. But of course, you know all this. Your heart is full of passion. How do I know?

Think of the way you talk and walk. How you eat and sleep. You drag yourself up every morning. You collect the little pieces that tend to break off and shatter once in a while. Why? Because you, too, are like me. We’ve both got a little hero in us.
